A Reflection On Music

According to Dictionary.com, music is an art of sound in time that expresses ideas and emotions in significant forms through the elements of rhythm, melody, harmony and color. In music class we have been studying time signature, degree names symbols and many things. In grade 9 our music teacher asked us to bring our music instrument to play a song entitled ”The United Nation March”. Because I’m one of Mutiara Harapan School Orchestra (MHSO) member who played flute, so I brought my flute during music class which I played with another members of MHSO in grade 9. The students, who are not MHSO members, were asked to bring their recorder.

I was very happy when the teacher asked us to bring our instrument. In here, I could show my talent by playing my flute. During the practical session, I also found some difficulties. Sometimes I couldn’t play the music in correct way and I need to improve my long breath. I also need to follow a correct beat. I have reflected that I have to be more confidence while playing the flute, practice a lot and need more patience.

A Reflection on Art Projects

We have been doing some art projects since we were grade 7. Usually we make art projects related to special events or feast day. We used recycle things in our projects. Example, we used old batteries to make our own building, then we put the buildings all together to form a cityscape. To celebrate Christmas, we made a lantern from old CDs. To celebrate Chinese New Year, we also used old CDs to make old Chinese coins. There is some Chinese characters that symbolize prosperity, abundance and good fortune. From all activities that we did, it teach me how to be more patience, to be responsible and also to improve my creativity skills. It also teach me to save environment by using recycle things to make an art project.
